But for as many options websites come with there are as many paths to achieve those options. Sustainable Web Design carefully follows the basic Graphic Design process but with a twist. Now that users interact and shop more than ever on the web, I have outlined a few essential insights to look for in a web designer and developer for the next time you need help tapping into the online market.

Aesthetic Accuracy:
Visually communicating the purpose of a company or idea while connecting with the appropriate visitors is part of what makes web design work to it’s fullest potential. Assuring this potential requires a designer of innovation rather than of pop trends. This timeless trait will allow for maximum growth of any company or idea online and in the physical world.

Establish Visitor Path:
Determine goals for visitors that will be interacting with the website, as well as their needs and feelings towards elements that will be used. In other words, get to know who will be interested in your product or idea and pinpoint what you want them to accomplish in visiting the website.

Hierarchy:
Once you establish your personas and visitor path then incorporate visual hierarchy to influence feelings and increase interactivity. Basically nothing goes on the page without a reason for being in a particular position and size.

Built to Ease(Usability):
Breaking down processes such as e-commerce to make transactions and interactivity as simple as possible. This is an opportunity to not only reinforce your brand, but enhance the shopping process rather than deter users from it. Other opportunities throughout a website can also be looked at from this point of view as it relates to it’s visitors (blogs, user registration, newsletters.)

Security:
In dealing with user registrations, email newsletters and e-commerce, security has never been more important. Often overlooked, always be assured that if information is being transmitted or stored that it is in a secure method.

Long-term update support:
Websites can be built to fit suite of any particular business need, however, make sure that information that needs to be updated often can be accessed easily with a backend login and password. Content management systems are an option that allows for rapid updating with the ease of a few clicks. Additionally, your designer should be available to assist for long-term developments, upgrades or major design overhauls that a CMS cannot handle.

Technology:
Keeping up with the latest technology isn’t just smart to research; it is often required to connect with certain audiences online. Understanding the different elements of a website in terms of the best and most updated approaches when implementing e-commerce, blogs, newsletter lists, RSS, and Flash animation is vital in the success of online marketing. Finally, the battles and unifications of web browsers must always be kept in mind by utilizing sustainable code that will likely reside in future browser changes.

A new Boise Mobile Dj’s logo and website was in need after a change in ownership. I was fortunate enough to be the designer hired for the job, and would like to share my creative insights during the process. When meeting with one of the owners of BMD Alex House, He gave me a good idea about what direction they wished to go with the company’s image. I gathered that a metropolitan look was a main objective, and one that would attract a younger to middle age group. The color scheme was to remain the same as the previous red and black, however BMD didn’t mind adding color if I found it necessary. With this information I was excited to proceeded to the conceptualization stages.

Concept/Preliminary
One of the first things I realized shortly after begining this project was that the acronym for Boise Mobile Dj’s was very sivzmetrical and would provide a great circular logo in relation to vynal record spinning. The accronym could also be spelled out in many different disc jockey elements such as digital level meters and speakers plugged into each other, some of which I included in the this sketch/render example. With these conceptual sketches and renders I was able to get a little deeper with what visual aesthetics were needed for this logo. Feedback was gathered on likes and dislikes of all options, as well as a prominent approval of the 3rd down and I was well on my way to creating the final piece.

The Outcome You can see the finalized logo in use at www.boisemobiledjs.com and the owners Brandon Fuller and Alex House continue to integrate it into the rest of their company. It seems to draw somewhat of an ambiguous interpretation around the city and the music volume. I owe much of the outcome of this logo to Boise Mobile Dj’s because their drive to take a different approach in the Disc Jockey industry. Leading to a unique mark that will help achieve the attention that it deserves. They were Kind enough to offer this feedback:

Brandon Fuller
Owner
Boise Mobile Dj’s

“Owning a Dj business, internet marketing is a major resource in our marketing campaign. I have worked with several web developers, and designers, with little luck in finding a quality service provider. Zach has provided quality work, timely adjustments, and great designs for my websites and logo’s. I appreciate the quality of his services, as dependibilty in web site design is few and far between in this heavily saturated market. I would highly recomend him to anyone looking for help with logo design, website design, developement, or S.E.O.”
